The Citadel of Qaitbay in Alexandria, Egypt is a 15th Century fortress that was built to protect the port of Alexandria. It sits on the site of the former Lighthouse of Alexandria. Alexandria was built by Alexander the Great after his conquest of Egypt. This was also a key city for Cleopatra and Napoleon. Quite a bit of amazing history. -
